Our mission statement

The Insiders' Pedia (IP) project aims at providing a collection (a network) of local encyclopedias written and maintained by, all-volunteer, local insiders. IP wants to empower individuals and communities, thus IP considers every person an Insider and allows them to add a Page to IP. 

IP offers communities across the U.S a platform (via InsidersPedia.org) where local persons (Insiders) and businesses or groups (Entities) are encouraged to share information by creating (adding) pages to the IP website.

IP aims at being an encyclopedia of (and for) all local  businesses, services and attractions and at being more than a business directory or a travel guide created by computer scripts or a few selected authors. IP empowers Insiders and Entities by allowing humans to create content, review it, and comment on it at the local level.

To achieve our mission we strive to uphold these goals:

• To maintain this online platform and keep it available at all times
• To maintain high quality in this encyclopedia
• To encourage more Insiders to add encyclopedia Pages
• To keep InsidersPedia 100% free to use
• To keep InsidersPedia 100% local
• To cover more local communities
• To have human eyes review each Page (will not rely on automated processes)
• To offer 100% free online listings service (similar to, but better than, a business directory)
• To offer every entity a full free Page (unlike the Yellow Pages where you get a few lines)
• To offer all consumers free access to Pages and reviews (unlike Angies List where consumers pay)
• To offer any local Entity (of any size) the opportunity of getting listed by means of creating an encylopedia Page (unlike Wikipedia where a small business entry is denied and entries must be academic in nature)
• To allow Pages to be edited at any time by their authors.
• To offer a platform where an Entity (business, service, club, etc) gets free instant publicity.
• To allow every local Entity the power to be found online, free.
